Happy Wednesday! I hope you are doing something you love today, or at least working towards it!
I have said before, my favorite thing to do as far as design goes is to create that "WOW" factor! Often times, that comes in the form of a feature wall! Today, I am showing you how to create an easy, cheap, and fast feature wall that looks incredible. It's just not that often that you come across an idea that fits into those four catagories (easy, cheap, fast, and good looking) and when you do it's awesome!! Ding, ding, ding we've got a winner folks!!! :)
Ok, let's get down to it. I started out with a black wall (you'll have to imagine the plain black wall because I forgot to take a before pic). I wanted it to be black because I planned on making my stencil shapes silver and I wanted them to really POP! :)
Next, I cut my desired shape out of cardboard. For this project, it is best to go with a geometric shape, you'll see why in a bit.
Next, I used chalk to trace the shape on my wall. Because I used the same cutout every time, things very easily stayed even and uniform.
Now, that you have your shapes drawn out, you are ready to define them. You may be thinking I'm going to whip out a can of paint, but you'd be wrong! No, I used foil tape to create this fantastic feature wall!! :)
I simply cut each piece to fit the line it was going on until the whole wall was finished!
The whole wall took about 2 hours from start to finish and cost me $10!!!!!
The purpose of this project was to create a backdrop for our photoshoot, but this wall will also look great when we set our furniture up and start living in the space!
You can totally customize this idea and make a shape more suitable to your taste or use a different tape or wall color! By keeping the shape geometric, the tape really works well. You may be wondering about the staying power of this look. Well, the foil tape I used (you can find it at hardware stores in the duct work section) sticks extremely well and will not come down unless I want it to.
So that's it! What do you think? Are you going to create your own "WOW" factor feature wall? I sure hope so, and I hope you will share it with us! :)
